Discussion of the master’s thesis of the student Ahmed Abdel-Amir Naji from the Department of Computer Science on the protection of electronic rights of the owner in the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Al-Qadisiyah proposed a new technique for including watermarks in electronic text documents
A text watermark is the most common type of media, for the purpose of including information (about the identity of the owner of the document) in a text document. Message focus on text files because they suffer from less data redundancy compared to other file types, This makes detecting changes or modifications in document data easier. Therefore, increasing watermark protection while maintaining imperceptibility to watermarked text is a difficult challenge. For this reason, this study aims to improve the security of data embedding (watermark) based on the fulfillment of watermark requirements.
Therefore, in order to achieve this, two goals were set. The first goal is to propose an algorithm to embed the watermark in a text document based on three letter English words. The second goal is to propose a model consisting of integrating the encryption technology with the proposed watermarking technology to increase the capacity and security while maintaining the robustness and quality (invisibility) of the watermarked text file.
The experimental results of the proposed model showed that the method of placing watermarks on the proposal text, which is based on three-letter English words, achieves an average value of 64.53% capacity, 94% incomprehensibility, and 80.2% robustness. Therefore, the importance of research will contribute to securing the identity of the rightful owner of text documents written in English through the use of high-quality text watermarks.
