The Research Unit at the CSIT organized a seminar on clean energy titled “Solar Energy in Iraq: Requirements and Challenges.” Presented by Mr. Mustafa Yahya Hassan, Mr. Maytham Abdul Hamza Jawad, and Mr. Sami Latif Jihad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They discussed energy and its main sources, focusing on the two primary classifications: renewable energy and traditional energy. Additionally, they unveiled the types of solar energy, namely thermal and photovoltaic, and how they can be harnessed to generate electricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar delved into solar energy in Iraq and the utilization of vast areas in the Qaim Desert, extending to the Muthanna Desert, which falls within the Global Sun Belt. The speakers also shed light on the problems and challenges facing Iraq in this regard, including the lack of investor support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation highlighted the key features and advantages of solar energy, emphasizing its clean and environmentally friendly nature, as well as its availability as a free source of energy. Furthermore, it was highlighted that solar energy can be utilized off the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
